ClearVue (ASX:CPV) has inked a deal with UK-based My Glass Projects (MGP) Ltd to combine its solar glazing energy-generating glass with MGP’s heated glass product.

For the uninitiated, ClearVue’s grand vision is to turn commercial-scale buildings into solar energy generation points. It makes and sells construction-grade glass panels that have internal components able to harvest sunlight and turn it into energy.

In other words, turning skyscrapers into solar farms. (According to MGP’s website, it too dabbles in solar panel glass.)

Clearvue’s deal with MGP sees the latter locked in under a manufacturing and distribution licence agreement in the UK with non-exclusive rights to make and sell ClearVue’s solar panel glass.

Fun fact: this is ClearVue’s first foray into the UK.

Part of the contract allows MGP to mix ClearVue’s products with its own, suggesting the former is looking for greater capabilities producing glass that harvests solar energy.

Though, MGP has its own claims to fame – it was instrumental in the construction of the One World Trade Centre and also provided “quality products for … the Ministry of Defence Building in Islamabad.”

But its heated glass is perhaps best known at one US political landmark – the Lincoln Memorial, under which MGP’s heated glass sits so as to mitigate and control condensation.

“This partnership represents a significant opportunity for ClearVue to expand into new markets and introduce our innovative technology to a wider audience, including a new ‘heated glass’ product with valuable applications in cold climates as well as tropical climates to control external condensation,” CPV CEO Martin Deil explained.

“Combining My Glass Projects’ heated glass technology with our solar glazing solution has created another commercially viable smart façade solution that takes autonomous glazing systems to the next level.”

CPV last traded at 27.5cps.
