Good Morning and welcome to HotCopper’s Market Open, I’m Jon Davidson.

The local bourse is set to rise after Wall Street overnight largely shrugged off panic borne from Moody’s credit downgrade for the US over the weekend.

Only the Russell 2000 ended in the red, Wall Street’s smallcap index, while the S&P and NASDAQ both jumped, though ended flattish green.

ASX futures, in turn, were up around +0.75% heading into morning trades.

Looking at forex, the Australian dollar is finally buying 65 US cents again.

As for commodities, also in the greenback:

  • Iron ore is to fetch just over US$100/tn in Singapore;
  • Brent Crude is fetching US$65.55/bbl,
  • Gold is commanding US$3,223/oz.

That’s Market Open – good luck on this Tuesday.
