Somerset Minerals (ASX:SMM) is mobilising crews to test a significant anomaly at the Coppermine project in Canada, with the 3,000-metre diamond drill program following the receipt of impressive results from late-CY25 regional geophysical and geochemical programs, which revealed numerous top targets.

The multiple undercover exploration targets spotted by the airborne gradiometer magnetic survey and first-pass glacial till geochemical survey had strong copper anomalies coincident with demagnetised magnetic features.

A highlight of the results – which Somerset is now exploring further – was the Talisker corridor. Featuring a highly anomalous and very strong approximately 17km-long coincident geochemical and geophysical anomaly, Talisker has now been rated as Somerset’s highest regional priority.

Talisker is around five kilometres from White Cliff Minerals’ major Danvers deposit and has been interpreted to connect to the same fault, the company wrote.

“These results mark a step-change for Somerset, with multiple new undercover copper targets now defined,” Somerset MD Chris Hansen said today.

He continued: “The geochemical and geophysical datasets have done exactly what we designed them to do, providing high-quality spatially objective data which allows us to search undercover, and reducing our search-space from over 1,600 sq. km to a much smaller and focused area in less than six months.”

Four of the 10 samples obtained from the Talisker corridor contained approximately 1,000 parts per million (ppm) copper, including a peak of 3,790 ppm.

“To see numbers like this in a first-pass regional program, in areas with little to no outcrop and minimal historical exploration, is exceptionally encouraging and underscores our view that sizeable copper systems may be concealed beneath shallow cover across the broader belt.” Mr Hansen explained to shareholders.

“We now have a newly identified large-scale copper footprint in the right geological address, sitting under thin cover, that has never been drill tested.”

Somerset has appointed a geophysical contractor to commence IP surveying in March; it is evaluating targeted infill survey methods to provide higher resolution datasets for drillhole targeting scheduled for May CY26.

SMM is trading at 5.8cps today after climbing nearly +6%.
