Diablo Resources (ASX: DBO) has fired up the engines on-site its North Star silver-antimony prospect in the United State of Utah with diamond drill rigs now spinning in an area proven to host high-grade rock sample anomalies.
Drillers are sniffing around one particular target within the prospect envelope that returned a rock sample result for over 3,000g/t silver – which works out at around 98 ounces a tonne assuming uniformity.
Similarly, other eye-catching silver rock sample grades were logged in that area earlier this year: other samples included reads of over 1,590g/t; 2,300g/t and 1,243g/t. In that latter cohort, concentrations of coincident antimony were also recorded.
The drill campaign kicking off on Wednesday is designed to start small and ramp-up assuming further success. An initial five holes for 1,000m will be sunk but the company’s got existing approvals in place to move up to a 27 hole program.
The drill run reflects not only the first subsurface geodata collection to be thoroughly conducted on-site, but the first modern drill test, too. All cards in order, data will afford geotechs a solid first pass conceptualisation of underground mineralisation dynamics on-site the North Star asset.
The North Star prospect sits within a larger project boundary envelope called Star Range; it reflects Diablo’s largest landholding in Utah. The nearby Horn Silver Mine project continues to be a subject of focus for the company simultaneously.
“With drilling underway at Star Range and ownership consolidated at Horn Silver, Diablo is well positioned to accelerate exploration across both projects,” Diablo Resources CEO Lyle Thorne said.
“Our U.S. exploration team is excited … Star Range continues to demonstrate strong potential across multiple target zones, and this program will provide important subsurface data to guide the next phase of exploration.”
