Kaoko Metals (ASX: KAO) took off after visual copper mineralisation was logged over broad down-hole zones in the first two diamond drill holes completed at the Otniel prospect at its Chalkos copper-silver project, Namibia.

“While it is still early in the program and we are waiting for results of the initial assays, we are pleased to have observed broad zones of copper mineralisation in the first two holes at Otniel,” MD, Gerard O’Donovan, said.

“This is a highly encouraging start to the first ever drilling of the 800 sq. km Chalkos project and we are excited to continue drilling at both the Otniel and Donkey Hill prospects.”

KAO was up142% to $1.78.

Australian Gold and Copper (ASX: AGC) was up again after confirming a significant high-grade precious and base metal discovery in the newly-identified western zone at the Evergreen prospect within the South Cobar project in NSW.

New results have extended the recently reported western zone gold mineralisation approximately 150 metres to the south, confirming high-grade mineralisation in both oxide and sulphide domains.

“We interpret this new western zone to have now been intersected over approximately 150 metres of strike, from recently reported oxide gold-silver mineralisation in 26DDBR013 to high-grade sulphide mineralisation in 26DDBR017,” MD, Glen Diemar, said.

“This is a major step forward in understanding the scale and tenor of the Evergreen system.”

AGC jumped 18.5% to 16.0c

Lion Rock Minerals (ASX: LRM) was popular on news a targeted valuation of retained Minta Est auger drill material has delivered multiple high-grade, multi-metre rare earth intervals from surface that are open at depth.

CEO, Theuns de Bruyn, said the results provide the first direct full-suite chemical assay of these earlier drill intervals, while a separately completed 761-hole alluvial drill campaign and its 3,666 samples are entering the assay sequence.

“Following the recent board and technical team appointments, the company has undertaken a comprehensive review of the exploration and targeting strategies across the Minta Project portfolio.

“The focus of previous exploration was predominantly towards rutile within surficial mineral sands. Taking a broader approach, the Company conducted ICP-OES multi element analysis across stored samples of auger drilling.”

LRM was up 11.1% to 2.0c

Looking wider, the S&P/ASX 200 The S&P/ASX 200 is lower today, dropping 114.20 points or 1.26% to 8,952.50. The bottom performing stocks in this index are Iperionex and Kingsgate Consolidated, down 7.74% and 7.44% respectively. The index has lost 1.92% for the last five days, but sits 3.70% below its 52-week high.

Elsewhere, Australian gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.4 per cent in the June quarter 2026 and 2.1 per cent compared to June quarter 2025 (seasonally adjusted, chain volume measure), according to figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

“Economic growth remained subdued in the June quarter as households continued to behave cautiously,” Grace Kim, ABS head of National Accounts, said.

“While increased spending and business investment occurred in pockets of the economy, imports supported much of the growth, moderating its contribution to overall GDP growth.”
