Prospect Resources (ASX:PSC) has unveiled the latest drill hits from its Zambia-based Mumbezhi project’s Nyungu Central target with grades over 1% copper reported on Thursday.
Infill diamond drilling at Nyungu Central turned back one result from what the company reports are shallow, high grade intersections:
- 18m @ 1.31% copper from 148m depth
- 7.4m @ 1.11% copper from 101m depth
- 30.6m @ 0.42% copper from 52m depth
While further assays from extensional drilling with a diamond tipped rig returned other significant hits with some coming from outside the existing mineralised boundary area:
- 20m @ 0.85% copper from 87m depth
- 26m @ 0.46% copper from 118m depth
- 6.5m @ 0.8% copper from 88m depth
- 8.4m @ 0.6% copper from 70m depth
- 21m @ 0.56% copper from 70m depth
A total of 32 drillholes have now been sunk on-site at Nyungu Central with the Kabikupa, Chipimpa and Kamafamba prospect areas also receiving immediate attention from Prospect’s geotech team.
“A key objective of the Phase 3 drilling this year was to validate the tenure-wide potential at Mumbezhi, and deliver meaningful new discoveries outside of Nyungu Central, Kabikupa and West Mwombezhi,” Prospect CEO Sam Hosack said.
“We look forward to having separate rigs turning on these two key prospects within the next month.”
A scoping study for the overall Mumbezhi project remains on-track for the first quarter of 2027 (calendar year.) Further, delays afflicting the company’s aspirations at the assay lab are reportedly worked out with investors able to expect a faster delivery of assay results moving foward.
“While the regional backlog in assay laboratories has been frustrating, as previously announced we now have a process in place to expedite the receipt of our Phase 3 results,” Hosack added.
