- Using to nature to overcome animal methane emissions
- Agreement with access to at least 480,000 head of cattle by 30 June 2027

- Teys to be exclusive distributor of SeaFeed for the cattle industry
Sea Forest (ASX:SEA) has signed a distribution agreement with Teys Australia Trading to help deal with the issue of cattle created methane.
Teys is one of Australia’s leading beef processors and exporters and the agreement is targeting at least 480,000 head of cattle by 30 June 2027.
Sea Forest will be supporting the contract with its SeaFeed product range which is formulated with bioactive compounds that target methane production at its source.
As a greenhouse gas, methane has a global warming potential approximately 28 times greater than CO2, making livestock production a significant contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions.
Teys Australia, which has been trialling SeaFeed within its feedlots over the past 12 months, will now be the exclusive distributor of SeaFeed for the beef industry in Australia and New Zealand, subject to achieving certain purchase volume targets.
Sea Forest MD and CEO, Sam Elsom, said this is a transformational commercial milestone for Sea Forest and a step change in accelerating industry-led adoption of methane reduction technology for the Australian agricultural sector.
“The agreement brings together two organisations with a shared commitment to practical innovation, commercial discipline and delivering meaningful climate outcomes,” Mr Elsom said.
“By combining distribution capability, customer relationships, operational know-how and carbon market opportunities, the partnership is intended to support adoption at scale and to make a material contribution to Australia’s emissions reduction task.”
Sea Forest utilises and replicates the science of methane-abating capabilities of Asparagopsis seaweed to deliver commercial climate solutions to agriculture and downstream supply chains.
SeaFeedT is a nature-identical formulation of the bioactive compounds of Asparagopsis and is proven to reduce methane emissions in ruminant livestock by up to 80% while creating positive economic outcomes for producers.
Founded in 1946, Teys produces approximately 1.7 billion beef meals globally each year, exports Australian beef to more than 60 countries and operates from 14 locations across Australia.
SEA was up 18.2% to $1.85. Mkt cap $87.73.
