- Shares closed 3.23 per cent down at 15 cents each
AL3D Limited (AL3) has sold one of its Arcemy WAM printing units to the University of Queensland (UQ) for around $400,000.
Based in Adelaide, AL3 offers commercial, large-scale, additive metal layering, 3D printing services to defence, maritime, automotive and resources customers.
The Arcemy unit is capable of printing all metallic alloys up to 1.5 square metres in dimension and 750 kilograms in mass, with an approximate deposition rate of up to eight kilograms per hour depending on the material.
The company said its Arcemy units were unique in being certified across a wide range of wielding wire feedstock-based metals, making them more flexible than power-based printers.
AL3 will work with UQ on the installation and commissioning of the unit, which is intended for use in education as well as research and development (R&D) at the university.
AML3D Managing Director Andy Sales commented on the deal.
“We are thrilled to be able to supply UQ with what we believe is the world’s most sophisticated, integrated, wire-based 3D printing unit,” he said.
“There is an expectation that we will work closely with UQ in the future around specific R&D programs that will benefit both parties in research, industry application and students’ base learning and research.”
Shares closed 3.23 per cent down at 15 cents each.
