Alara Resources (ASX: AUQ) is on the cusp of exporting its second copper concentrate consignment from the Al Wash-hi Majaza project in Oman.
This comes after the Oman-focussed base and precious metals explorer and producer reached a milestone in May when it shipped its first consignment of copper concentrate from the project.
The second consignment is now expected to reach the port of Sohar by 22 June, departing Oman two days later.
In an update Alara Resource said that The Al Wash-hi – Majaza copper concentrate plant had seen continuous production over the past month, recording improvements in both the grade and volume of copper concentrate produced.
The plant’s second shipment of copper concentrate will comprise approximately 1200 wet metric tonnes, to be loaded onto a vessel departing for China on 24 June.
The plant’s first consignment of copper concentrate comprised approximately 156MT of copper and 6kg of gold and was also shipped to China.
Alara has also given an update on the Tailing Filter Press (TFP) at the Al Hadeetha plant.
The company said progress was being made with the Italian manufactured press, but challenges remained.
“Both the Al Hadeetha project team and the manufacturer’s engineers are working closely to bring this equipment to full operational capacity. Mechanical modifications to the TFP, as advised by the manufacturer’s engineers, are currently being implemented to enhance the availability and operating cycle time of the equipment,” Alara Resources said.
At the same time, Alara said it is evaluating several options to enhance productivity with several proposals currently under technical and commercial consideration.
“The AHRL team is working on procuring an additional unit as the highest priority,” Alara Resources said.
AUQ was priced at 6.3 cents in early trading.
