A further 90,000 people were back in full and part-time employment in November according to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Victoria’s 2.2 per cent increase in employed workers comes as a stand-out in the report, with 3,371,300 people now in full-time work.

It comes as the state bounces back from COVID-induced trading restrictions and fewer people require JobKeeper and JobSeeker payments.

As a result, there has been a slight decrease in the number of unemployed and underemployed people and a modest rise in the number of people looking for work.

Despite the month-to-month recovery, November 2020 unemployment figures are still up on the previous year by 1.7 per cent.

Australians racked up an additional 43 million hours of work in November, with the number of employed people in Australia currently sitting at 12,860,700.
