Digital cognitive assessment player Cogstate (ASX:CGS) has seen its shares jump nearly +12% higher in the intraday Monday session after posting a business update revealing sales to US$25.1M.

That saw the company join the top gainers boards on Monday of Week 42 along the likes of Omega Oil & Gas and 4DMedical – even on a day where it’s the Materials sector that’s well in the lead, up +2% at lunch rebounding after last week’s shocker.

The company ultimately sells mental testing software for use in clinical trials with a historical company focus on Alzheimer’s disease, one of the world’s leading neurodegenerative health crises.

Impressive net profit margins have attracted investors to to the stock this year and especially in relatively recent history where the Iran-US war and resultant effects have led to turmoil for many parts of the ASX.

With that said, it’s worth noting the company is relatively obscure (in that it isn’t a household name) and it’s not a remarkably high-liquidity stock: heading into lunchtime, some $1.3M worth of shares had traded hands – still far better than many other obscure players in the space.

If the company can keep posting good numbers, that’s likely to continue. So far the company’s shares are up 70% YTD.

Cogstate has a market cap not far off $665M; in FY26 it made US$89M, more than double what it made in FY25 of US$41.2M.

While that makes Cogstate vulnerable if there’s a miss in future updates, so far, those investors involved are clearly bullish.
