Cokal (CKA) has begun repairing the 46-kilometre access road to its Bumi Barito Mineral (BBM) coal mine.

The company has mobilised equipment needed for the repair to the site, and on-ground preparations are well underway.

The equipment has been sourced locally, as agreed with local community leaders. Equipment used includes dozers, excavators, fuel truck, water truck and haul truck.

Notably, Cokal has been in talks with the local community for some time to help enable the project to maintain full community support.

To allow initial road access to the mine as soon as possible, the dozer will press ahead, and bridges are set to be completed by Karya Delta Permai — the logging contractor who originally built the road.

Once the road access has been established to the mine site the mining contractor will mobilise.

“With this in mind, progress towards the commencement of mining at BBM continues with details of the coal mining plan and site facilities as well as the logistics infrastructure in the process of being finalised,” the company said.

BBM is Cokal’s most advanced project and, according to the company, is home to high-quality metallurgical coal. The project is located in the Central Province, Kalimantan, Indonesia.

On market close for the day, Cokal is in the grey and trading at 6.6 cents per share.
