Duratec (ASX: DUR) has received notification from the Clough BMD Joint Venture of an award to undertake construction and commissioning works at the Northern Territory government’s Darwin Ship Lift Facility.

The facility is an infrastructure development aimed at establishing Darwin as a key maritime services sector hub.

It will support the servicing and maintenance of vessels operated by the Federal Department of Defence, the Australian Border Force, private and commercial entities within the energy and marine, tourism and aquaculture sectors.

MD, Chris Oates, said the contract, valued at approximately $68 million, represents a significant opportunity for Duratec to contribute to a nationally strategic infrastructure development in northern Australia.

“This award is a testament to our team’s capability in delivering complex infrastructure solutions and aligns with our strategic focus on the defence and marine sectors,” Mr Oates.

“Duratec has been established in the Northern Territory for over a decade with a strong and ongoing commitment to supporting local industry and is proud to be partnering with Clough BMD JV. This project will play a vital role in enhancing Australia’s maritime infrastructure and we look forward to contributing to the successful delivery of this critical asset and generating long-term value for our stakeholders.”

Duratec’s scope includes construction of a blast and paint facility and washdown bay slab, including associated utilities, as well as the supply, installation and commissioning of key systems including dust collectors, tanks, water treatment, HVAC, communications, electrical and hydraulic.

The blast and paint facility project is expected to commence in June 2026, with completion anticipated mid to late 2027.

The Darwin ship lift award comes after Duratec announced in mid-April that that its 50:50 joint venture with Entech had been awarded a $281 million contract for the infrastructure upgrades to support future submarine capability at HMAS Stirling on the Diamantina Wharf at Garden Island Western Australia.

Early on-site works, awarded under a separate contract valued at $9.2 million, commenced on site in January 2026. This was undertaken alongside the early procurement of approximately $5m of long lead items, while contract design neared 100% completion and final design approval was granted. This award of the main works contract, with a duration of approximately 24 months, marks the conclusion of the ECI Planning Phase and the DEJV will now transition into full delivery, taking the total contract value for the works to just under $300 million.

DUR is up 2.81% to $2.74. Mkt cap $687.9M.
