Sonia Madigan:

JP Vargas de la Vega joins me now with Galan Lithium (GLN) from the floor at Kalgoorlie Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum.

Now JP, you’re working in lithium in Argentina. Where’s the project at now?

JP Vargas de la Vega:

Well, we have the highest-grade lithium project in Argentina.

We have high grades of low impurities and we have a fantastic project that we
are getting into development.

We’re getting phase one already articulated with a DFS we delivered a month ago. We believe that we’re going to get the permits for the development of DFS within this quarter and we expect to start construction soon after.

So it’s all exciting because we got phase one and followed by phase two DFS that is going to be released at the end of September. So it’s plenty of work that we’re doing and keep the market informed on what we have.

Sonia Madigan:

How are you finding the interest in lithium here in Kalgoorlie this year?

JP Vargas de la Vega:

Well, this is a new one for us. I think there’s a strong interest because we are presenting,
we are presenting tomorrow at 3.30 pm and it’s our first time ever in Kalgoorlie presenting.

So, I think that Diggers is showing something different this time and lithium is getting its own position into the Diggers conference.

Sonia Madigan:

Well, actually this year battery metals has taken the stage over gold, as in there are more presenters in battery metals than gold for the first time ever.

Does that surprise you?

JP Vargas de la Vega:

No, no, not surprised at all, especially when Australia is the number one lithium producer in the world.

You know, a reflection of that transition is showing now at Diggers. So I believe that this is going to continue better and stronger. Sorry for gold, but we are the new force here coming up. But there’s plenty more to do in the space.
