Global Lithium Resources (GL1) has announced a number of changes to its board and the appointment of an exploration consultant for its Marble Bar lithium project.

Managing Director Jamie Wright has stepped down with plans to move home to South Australia. As part of a management transition plan, he will remain as a director until March 1. Global Lithium has now launched an executive search process for his replacement.

Ronald Mitchell, an experienced lithium and battery metals executive, has been appointed Executive Director of Markets and Growth to manage marketing development, strategic partnership negotiations, and business growth opportunities. Commencing on March 1, Mr Mitchell will be on a fixed remuneration of $320,000 per annum, plus superannuation.

The new Director has extensive experience as a mining executive, particularly in roles with Tianqi Lithium, one of the world’s largest lithium mining companies, which Global Lithium Chair Warrick Hazeldine said is “incredibly valuable”.

“Ron has developed a strong global network in the lithium and battery metals sector in his role as Chairman of the LME’s Lithium Committee on the back of his 25+ years in senior commercial, strategy, sales and business development roles, including seven years with the WA Government,” Mr Hazeldine said.

Global Lithium also welcomes former Chief Operating Officer and Director of Operations at Fortescue Metals Group (FMG), Greg Lilleyman, as Non-Executive Director.

The company said Mr Lilleyman is a highly regarded mining executive who also held various roles at Rio Tinto for over 26 years, including as President of its Pilbara Iron Ore operations.

Mr Hazeldine said Global Lithium is delighted Mr Lilleyman has joined its board and said he brings sought after skills as the company works to advance its projects across multiple locations.

“Greg is one of the world’s leading mining executives with expertise in large scale project development and construction, along with operational and leadership capabilities,” Mr Hazeldine added.

At the company’s Marble Bar Lithium project in Western Australia’s North West, mining consultancy CSA Global has been engaged to manage exploration, with support from Global Lithium’s Exploration Manager Bryan Bourke.

The company said the geological consultancy will act as Program Manager for the 60,000-metre drilling program, which is due to commence this quarter.

Shares were trading 8.5 per cent higher at $1.41 at 10:54 am AEDT.
