Hello and welcome to this week’s HotCopper Highlights, I’m Seja Al Zaidi. In Week 24, the HotCopper community has largely decided that defence stocks were most worthy of stealing the spotlight. Elsewhere this week, lithium ethatmics continue to divide investors, as usual, and one of the year’s hottest IPOs on the ASX had traders scrambling to work out whether this rally has further to run.

Listen to the HotCopper podcast for in-depth discussions and insights on all the biggest headlines from throughout the week. On Spotify, Apple, and more.

Let’s get started on the Most Watched. First was a stock that’s completely captured the market’s attention: Boresight. The debutant defence company exploded this week, surging as much as 90% after listing at 20cps. For many, the appeal is obvious — Boresight’s already selling aerial target drones and training systems to military customers in 14 countries, including Australia and the U.S.

The excitement around Boresight also spilled into other Oz defence sector names, also working in drones. KTEK Aerosystems emerged as one of the most watched companies on the platform as investors searched for the next stock capable of benefiting from growing defence budgets.

Another company attracting significant attention was 1414 Degrees. The energy tech company remained one of the most viewed stocks on the forum. This week, much of the conversation centred on the company’s drone ambitions, after it outlined major, company-changing plans to pivot into Ukraine’s drone industry, seizing on soaring demand for military drone production.

Meanwhile, no HotCopper Highlights reel would be complete without lithium, and that takes us on to the Most Discussed on the forums in WK24.

First up, Core Lithium was once again among the most discussed companies on the platform, generating thousands of posts as investors argued over where the sector goes next. The bull case remains straightforward, though lithium prices have been crushed, and sentiment remains poor. Many investors are showing concern about an oversupply of lithium and more tempered demand for EVs.

Elsewhere, BPH Energy also featured heavily in discussions, while 333D rounded out the list across HotCopper as traders searched for the next speculative opportunity capable of generating outsized returns.

That’s HotCopper Highlights for Week 24, I’m Seja Al Zaidi, have a great weekend.
