Happy Friday, and welcome to HotCopper Highlights for Week 40 – I’m Isaac McIntyre, covering for Jonathon Davison while he’s off celebrating his birthday. In this segment, we’ll be looking at all the most popular stocks on Australia’s #1 finance and stock research website, which means what you looked at.
Listen to the HotCopper podcast for in-depth discussions and insights on all the biggest headlines from throughout the week. On Spotify, Apple, and more.
It’s been a fascinating week on a macro level, with the RBA “hold” call on Tuesday coming with inflation warnings, a U.S. gov’t shutdown, and plenty more.
On the forums, it’s been mostly explorers and hot-trackers. Here’s the most-viewed.
Most viewed stocks on HotCopper
Price action around Invictus Energy (ASX:IVZ) made sure it was the most viewed stock on the forums through Week 40, and by quite a margin, too. JD and I dissected Invictus Energy in deeper detail on the HotCopper Wire on Wednesday, so give that a listen, but a halt late last week and a cap raise both bled into more questions this week. To Friday arvo, the stock’s down -25% for the month.
Elsewhere, Metallium (ASX:MTM) capped out as one of the most watched companies on HotCopper threads for similar reasons, though heavily heading the other way: There’s a bucketload of excitement around MTM thanks to a deal it just struck with Glencore on Thursday; it’s +18% in Week 40.
And finally, a three-year deal to deliver its embedded finance solution to T-Mobile USA’s new T-Life super app guaranteed Stakk Ltd (ASX:SKK) was a hot watch all the way through this trading week. Stakk (formerly “Douugh” until recently) is halted today, but it headed into that trade break at 6cps.
And now – the most talked about companies this week.
Most discussed stocks on HotCopper
Droneshield (ASX:DRO) has been talked about ad nauseam through Week 40, with the defence tech company enjoying a +40% spike in October, driven by new contracts and strong sales milestones. DRO’s hype is very simple – the company makes portable counter-UA solutions and has been tying up deals with the U.S. DoD and EU contractors. HotCopper users love stocks that go up.
Also heavily discussed has been Race Oncology (ASX:RAC). The biotech developer had a standout win this week, made more exciting for general punters because it was throwing around “anticancer” as a term. To put it (semi) simply, Race discovered the primary anticancer mechanism of action for its lead drug candidate, known as RCDS1. Price action reflected that; RAC is up +32% this week.
And finally, I’ve written about them several times this week, and they’ve popped up in my daily Trends column, so it’s no surprise Red Mountain Mining (ASX:RMX) has captured users’ attention through W40. Red Mountain landed its “highest antimony to date” at its New South Wales dig, which always helps explorer hype.
That’s HotCopper Highlights, I’m Isaac McIntyre – see you next week.
