Rock chip sampling at Metal Hawk Ltd’s (ASX:MHK) Leinster South project inWestern Australia has revealed gold grading up to 22 grams per tonne, underpinning the extension of a quartz vein trend first identified at the project in August.

During the latter program, high grade gold in quartz veins were discovered close to the Lawlers mining centre, whose deposits produced more than 5 million ounces of gold at 5 grams per tonne.

This discovery was named ‘Siberian Tiger’, and it was here – during the September field campaign – that a quartz vein grading 22 grams per tonne was found, with rock chip assays showing that the initial gold trend extends along the entire 3.8 kilometre strike length of greenstone to the new Tysons prospect near the granite contact to the southeast.

The quartz vein in question was found at the eastern tip of the greenstone belt, and further sampling and mapping is planned to follow up the discovery.

Metal Hawk’s Managing Director Will Belbin said the results were positive indications of what might be found at the project.

“We are pleased to see more outstanding gold results from our field activities at Leinster South, which is shaping up as a potentially large mineralised system with multiple untested gold prospects,” he said.

“The fact that there has been so little exploration on this project is hard to fathom, considering we are located in one of the most mature and gold-endowed parts of the northeastern goldfields.

“Preparations for RC drilling at Siberian Tiger are underway and a drilling contractor will be appointed once a heritage clearance survey has been completed.

“We will also be planning to test several other exciting gold prospects at Leinster South in 2025.”

Shares in Metal Hawk fell on the news, and at 13:43 AEDT, they were trading at 17 cents – a fall of 8.11% since the market opened.
