OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) has announced metallurgical recoveries at Grass Patch in Western Australia validated by testing at the Australian Nuclear Science Organisation (ANSTO).

ANSTO is responsible for all rare earth assaying in Australia given the common coincidence of many REEs with thorium, a radioactive element.

Samples were selected from three identified areas, showcasing diverse material behaviours in three prospective target areas: Belgian, Circle Valley, and Scaddan.

Belgian showed a notable multi-channel feature on AEM, with magnetic rare earth (MagRE) recoveries ranged from 47% to 87%.

At Circle Valley, characterised by a large clay basin, MagRE recoveries averaged between 66% and 82%, with carbonaceous shales below the basin.

Scaddan, the third target and another boasting a large clay basin, had MagRE recoveries between 40% and 50%.

Leaching involved 25g/L hydrochloric acid maintained at 30C over a 24-hour period. Recoveries were then calculated based on the discrepancy between assayed solid head and solid residue.

According to the company, the Lithium Borate Fusion Digest method boosts head grade by up to 30%, the extra grade is suggested to be unlikely to be recoverable in a clay-hosted rare earth processing plan.

OD6 plans to continue the Grass Patch works program, through additional Phase 2 reconnaissance drilling and sighter bottle roll tests on selected Phase 2 drill samples.

OD6 last traded at 9.3c, at 12:40pm AEDT.
