Recce Pharmaceuticals (RCE) has received the green light to advance to the next cohort of its anti-infective RECCE 327 (R327) urinary tract infection (UTI) phase I/II clinical trial.

After the Independent Safety Committee unanimously agreed that R327 was safe and well-tolerated at intravenous dosages of 2500 milligrams (mg), the company has now moved on to a higher 3000mg dosage

RCE CEO James Graham said the approval reaffirmed the committee’s view that R327 is safe and well tolerated at two faster infusion rates of 2500mg.

“Results from this trial will pave the way for R327 as a potential first-line treatment for patients suffering from UTI/Urosepsis,” he said.

The company believes it is right in the middle of an unmet global market in need of sustainable anti-infective treatment, as UTIs account for 30 per cent of all Urosepsis infections.

RCE shares last traded at 70.5 cents.
