- High-grade results confirm mineralisation continuity below existing resource
- Highlights further potential to extend Youanmi’s high-grade gold system at depth
- Results identified potential to extend mine life and increase production
- Results demonstrate down-plunge continuity of main and hanging-wall lodes outside of Youanmi resource
Rox Resources (ASX: RXL) has identified the potential to extend mine life with successful resource conversion and growth drilling at the Youanmi gold mine in Western Australia.
“We have now received our first results from the previously announced growth program targeting United North below the existing resource,” MD and CEO, Phill Wilding, said.
“The program is initially focused on resource conversion and growth, before progressing to step-out drilling to test the potential down-plunge extensions of the United North mineralisation.
“The first results are encouraging, with the infill drilling confirming the existing geological model and the first growth step-out hole returning a very high-grade intercept in the expected position and in line with projected plunge of the orebody.
“The key objective of this work is to grow the ore system, extend the mine life of Youanmi, and contribute to Rox’s aspiration of becoming a 150,000 ounces per annum operation.
“Returning grades of this tenor in the first step-out hole is particularly encouraging and reinforces the potential we see at depth. Should subsequent drilling continue to support our geological interpretation, we will commence evaluating opportunities to increase production rates and further extend the mine life.”
Significant first results received from Youanmi Deeps resource conversion and growth drilling includes 4.87m at 15.13 grams per tonne (g/t) from 584.13m, including 1.78m at 32.98 from 586.12m and 3.16m at 3.78 g/t from 448.20m.
Following the release in September of the updated Youanmi mineral resource estimate of 12.4 million tonnes (Mt) at 5.5 g/t for 2,195 koz, the company focused its exploration and resource definition activities with a surface diamond drilling program designed to deliver three key objectives.
• Resource Conversion: Conversion of Inferred resources to Indicated resources to support future ore reserve growth
• Resource Growth: Definition of additional mineralisation within and around the existing resource, including material identified through exploration drilling, to support ongoing incremental resource growth
• Plunge Exploration: Testing extensions to known mineralisation, targeting the area beneath United North to Youanmi Main, to support the company’s long-term mine-life growth aspirations
Surface diamond drilling at Youanmi is ongoing and is expected to continue into early CY2027, with underground drilling operations continuing in parallel.
As part of the pathway to delivering first gold from the mine by mid-2027 and progressing towards its aspirational target of becoming a 150,000 ounces per annum producer, exploration and resource definition work during the first half of CY2026 focused on improving the understanding of the structural deformation history of the Youanmi mine and its relationship to gold mineralisation processes.
RXL was up 10.1% to 54.5¢, Mkt cap $689.9M.
