UNITH (ASX:UNT) shares were up 7% to 1.5cps in morning trades on Wednesday as the company took on board Microsoft’s former Vice President of Enterprise & Partners (Asia), one Gary Cox.

Cox has worked in the IT and software sector for 35 years, but his tenure at Microsoft – where he climbed the ranks to regional VP status – appears to be what the market took to so warmly on Wednesday.

He is also currently a Non-Exec Director (NED) at NEXTGEN and other entities. He has exposure to the workings of the local bourse, and, was once the CEO of TrueLocal, at the time a News Corp subsidiary.

Director Matthew Blake, in turn, will be resigning from Unith “due to differences with the Board as to the proposed direction of the company.”

“It is a pleasure to welcome Gary to UNITH where he brings a wealth of knowledge around software development, commercialisation, global expansion and enterprise solutions,” UNITH non-exec chair Sytze Voulon said.

“His passion for emerging technology trends and commitment to leveraging these trends for positive impacts on customers and partners around the world are assets that UNITH is excited to embrace.”

UNITH shares last traded at 1.5cps.
