Magnis Energy Technologies (MNS) has produced its first full-sized lithium-ion battery cells produced from its New York Battery Plant.

The cells were produced from the company’s subsidiary, Imperium3 New York (iM3NY), with what MNS said were “all commercial-grade components to refine the product design from a fully defined supply chain”.

According to Magnis Energy, the firsts cells were produced using manual settings to refine the project design in the hopes switching to automated production in the future.

Broadly, Maganis affirmed the move represents the first stage of demonstrating its ability to synchronise material science, engineering and process knowledge to produce a commercially viable lithium-ion cell.

Additionally, the company said the current phase works towards securing production-grade design and de-risking design unknowns while it transitions from pilot production to full-scale production.

iM3NY’s Chief Excecutive Officer Chaitanya Sharma commented on the news.

“Today’s achievement has been produced with long hours by a committed team that continues to expand. We will keep working around the clock to achieve our production milestones.”

Magnis Energy Technologies shares are up 5.17 per cent and trading at 30.5 cents at 11:22 am AEST.
