Legend Mining (LEG) has begun a regional exploration drilling program at the Rockford Project in Western Australia.

Diamond drilling will target the Magnus and Octagonal prospects to test a combination of geological and geophysical targets.

Regional aircore drilling will then be undertaken to test a number of aeromagnetic and gravity features as well as to follow up on previous anomalous nickel-copper results.

Diamond drilling is expected to take four to six weeks while aircore drilling is estimated to take five to six weeks.

Magnus

Two diamond holes, for 800 metres, will be drilled at Magnus to test elevated nickel-copper aircore results coincident with gravity highs.

Follow up aircore drilling has been planned around two holes, both of which are associated with prospective mafic/ultramafic lithologies.

Downhole electromagnetic (DHTEM) surveys will be completed over all holes.

Octagonal

Two diamond holes, for 1000 metres, have been planned at the Octagonal Prospect with the first hole to test a down plunge geochemical target.

The second hole will be conditional on visual results from the first hole and DHTEM surveys will also be completed in all holes.

Aircore drilling will then be undertaken over four areas to target previous anomalous nickel-copper results as well as aeromagnetic and gravity features.

Managing Director Mark Wilson is excited to begin drilling at the Rockford Project.

“This commencement of the regional program for this year is an exciting milestone for the Rockford Project,” Mr Wilson commented.

“The diamond drilling at Magnus will be the first ever into the Magnus intrusion and will be the first diamond drilling by Legend at Octagonal. Octagonal is one of only four publicly disclose massive nickel-copper sulphide occurrences in the Fraser Range.”

Legend was trading steady at 7.6 cents at 1:04 pm AEST.
