  • Big W adds kids’ smartwatch, the Spacetalk Adventurer, to its shelves this month
  • Tech developer Spacetalk (SPA) and the Aussie retailer are initially planning to launch the product in 50 Big W stores, while continuing sales online
  • Spacetalk says it expects to see a positive impact on its total revenue
  • Following the announcement, shares in Spacetalk are trading steady at 22.5 cents

Children’s smartwatch, the Spacetalk Adventurer, is set to hit the shelves of select Big W stores this month following “promising” online sales.

The gadget, developed by global technology provider Spacetalk (SPA), is the latest in a range of all-in-one smartphone GPS watches, equipped with a camera, improved battery, heart rate monitor, bluetooth connectivity and water resistance.

Spacetalk and Big W are aiming to launch the product instore across 50 of the retailer’s 183 Australian outlets later this month, in addition to continuing online sales.

Spacetalk Chief Executive Officer Mark Fortunatow commented on the news.

“We welcome Big W to our rapidly growing Spacetalk family and appreciate and acknowledge their desire to distribute our all-in-one smartphone watches,” he said.

“We look forward to working with Big W to continue to grow and nurture the rapidly evolving kids wearables category.”

While the financial implications of the arrangement are still unknown, Spacetalk said it expected to see a direct positive impact on the company’s total revenue.

Following the announcement, shares in Spacetalk were trading in the grey at 22.5 cents at 1:13 pm AEDT.
