Mitchell Tinley:
I’m From the Floor at The Market Herald and HotCoppers Still in the Lead, Lithium’s Place in the Green Energy Transition.
I’m here with Vulcan Energy Resource’s (VUL) Dr Francis Wedin.
Now, Francis you just got off stage, first of all, how do you like being on stage talking about what you do?
Dr Francis Wedin:
Well, I talk about this all day and I never get tired of talking about our project, so very much enjoyed it, and yeah some good interactions with the attendees today here so yeah pretty good event.
Mitchell Tinley:
Now can you talk about your project in Germany and how excited you guys are about that?
Dr Francis Wedin:
Yeah, well we’re going into the execution stage now so we’re starting to break ground on some of the sites.
We’re going into the full financing as well, we’ve just commissioned our optimisation plant so we’ll start producing our first tonnes of product as well, for product qualifications, so yeah it’s a very exciting time.
It’s where the rubber hits the road and exciting things start to happen.
Mitchell Tinley:
And what does the lithium industry need to really thrive?
Dr Francis Wedin:
It needs to get a lot bigger very very quickly and it needs to get a lot more efficient I think, and we need more people.
There are not enough people in the industry who understand how to build and operate these projects because we’re growing from such a small industry to such a big one in a very short space of time.
Mitchell Tinley:
Now out of your presentation, if people were to take away one thing, what is the most important message that you had to deliver?
Dr Francis Wedin:
So, we’re developing the world’s only Zero-Carbon Lithium project, so it’s a lithium product that is produced with a net zero-carbon footprint and that’s unique.
It’s never been done before and it’s happening right now.
We’re also a renewable energy producer, part of which is driving that lithium production.
So what I would say is Vulcan’s a very unique proposition.
If you want your portfolio to be ESG-weighted, we’re a very good ESG proposition for that reason.
Mitchell Tinley:
Well, Dr Francis Wedin, thank you so much for your time.
