Good Afternoon and welcome to HotCopper Highlights for Week 28 of the year, I’m Jon Davidson and at the end of each week we look at the most viewed and most discussed stocks on the HotCopper forums. Let’s get into it starting with the most viewed.

Listen to the HotCopper podcast for in-depth discussions and insights on all the biggest headlines from throughout the week. On Spotify, Apple, and more.

Vault Minerals living the HotCopper dream this week as the gold developer saw Genesis Minerals lob it a $5B takeover offer, above and beyond a smaller multi-billion dollar offer from Regis Resources. Given the Genesis bid is equal to the market cap of Regis, it looks like Vault has found a winner, even if Genesis shareholders weren’t so sure.

Elsewhere, Telstra has this week remained hot on the radar though not because of price volatility. Despite being the latest national telco to see a triple zero outage bungle after Optus did the same last September, Telstra’s share price hasn’t really budged at all, despite a lot of media attention.

Finally, the largest IPO we’ve seen on the ASX kicked off this week. That’s construction giant FDC Consolidated Holdings, and like a few drone tech stocks that’ve listed this year its debut has been going pretty well. The big question remains can it retain the debut gains.

And so what about the most discussed stocks?

Lithium player Liontown Resources remaining a popular topic of intrigue as investors continue to gauge recent strengths in lithium prices and whether or not the white battery gold can keep seeing upside, or if this is the best for now.

Elsewhere, long term favourite Brainchip back on investors tongues as the value prop for the long extant microchip tech stock company remains a subject of debate especially with Australian tech stocks slightly recovering this week.

And that recovery was of course due to Wisetech founder Richard White stepping down, a character no stranger to controversy whose so-called ‘key man risk’ appears to have become large enough to convince White a step back is in order. Shareholders liked the news.

That’s HotCopper Highlights for Week 28, I’m Jon Davidson, have a great weekend, go the Dockers, and we’ll see you on Monday.
