Newly dual-listed explorer Dalaroo Metals (ASX:DAL) is forging ahead with a significant expansion of its Blue Lagoon Critical Minerals Project in southwest Greenland, this week submitting applications for two additional exploration licenses, M-516 and M-517, adjacent to its existing tenure.

Dalaroo has been looking to consolidate its North American position for some time, grabbing land where it can in the Gardar Alkaline Province.

This April acquisition gives the Western Australian explorer more control over the Helene alkaline granite, which is considered very favourable for rare earth element (REE), zirconium (Zr), and niobium (Nb) mineralisation.

The expansion brings in another 242.77 square kilometres, with license M-516 covering 50.51km²; M-517 covering 192.26km². Once granted – this HotCopper writer understands that should be sealed away by late May – the company’s total landholding over in Greenland will be ~259km².

“The expansion of the Blue Lagoon project marks an important step in building scale within one of the world’s more prospective regions for critical minerals,” Dalaroo’s chief executive officer, John Morgan, told shareholders today.

He continued: “The additional licences significantly increase Dalaroo’s landholding across a geological setting prospective for rare earth elements and associated minerals, strengthening the company’s position in Greenland.

“This expanded footprint provides a strong platform to advance exploration and systematically evaluate the potential of both intrusive and sedimentary mineral systems.”

Recent geochemical sampling by the explorer in the Gardar Alkaline Province identified elevated concentrations of total rare earth oxides (TREO) and associated pathfinder elements. Peak recorded results included zirconium dioxide (ZrO₂) up to 4.42% and hafnium (Hf) values of up to 99ppm.

The Gardar Alkaline Province is a Mesoproterozoic rift province recognised for hosting rare earth element-enriched alkaline intrusive systems.

Dalaroo’s modern model suggests primary mineralisation (which includes granites, syenites, and nepheline syenites) may have been redistributed through weathering. That could have left mechanical concentration of heavy minerals within the lagoonal and nearshore sedimentary environments on the property.

Next up for Dalaroo is the opening of the exploration season. The explorer will be running detailed geological mapping across the new areas, auger drilling in sediment systems, and Ground Penetrating Radar surveys to map beach architecture – once the weather allows working teams to get into the region.

The company also has bathymetric surveying and diamond or percussion coring of granitic lithologies planned to closely investigate several REE source rocks.

DAL will head into Tuesday morning trade @ ~6cps.
