eMetals Ltd (ASX:EMT) has started a soil sampling campaign at its Busia gold project in Uganda, which lies in the prospective Busia-Kakamega Greenstone Belt, home to several deposits – such as Shanta Gold’s 1.76-million-ounce West Kenya project and Wagagai Mining’s eponymous project, just 25 kilometres away.

Gold-in-soil anomalies are now the focus for the company, which is undertaking geological mapping and rock chip sampling at the same time there.
Managing director Mathew Walker said EMT intended to carry out a systematic exploration of the territory. “We are excited to commence our exploration program in this highly prospective region known to host several world-class gold projects.”
Bolstering expectations is the fact the project is located on one of four exploration license applications controlled by Ugandan company Sifang Mineral Resources Ltd, in which EMT holds a majority investment.
It features a prominent banded ironstone extending over a strike of more than nine kilometres, including greenstones made of metavolcanics on the flanks.
An earlier reconnaissance sampling taken by the company focused on the BIF-identified surface rock chips grading 0.2 grams per tonne.
