iTech Minerals’ (ITM) latest results have revealed rare earth element (REE) potential within its Franklyn kaolin-halloysite prospect in the Nackara Arc in South Australia.

Drill results have been flowing in after drilling at the Eyre Peninsula kaolin-REE project as part of an ongoing program to assess its suite of exploration tenure.

iTech resubmitted samples from a 2019 drilling program for REE analysis, which returned widespread mineralisation.

The samples analysed were from kaolin-halloysite rich intervals identified during previous drilling, and returned intersections such as 19 metres at 631 parts per million (ppm) total rare earth oxides (TREO) from nine metres, including four metres at 1031 ppm TREO from 13 metres.

“iTech has a long-term vision of becoming a low-cost producer of REEs based in the highly supportive mining jurisdiction of South Australia,” Managing Director Michael Schwarz said.

“The addition of the Franklyn Kaolin-Halloysite-REE Prospect to the pipeline of kaolin hosted REE projects strengthens the company’s vision for the future.”

While Eyre Peninsula continues to be the focus of exploration for clay hosted REE deposits, the discovery of mineralisation at Franklyn expands iTech’s pipeline of projects to include a prospect with known halloysite occurrences.

iTech Minerals was up 2.6 per cent, trading at 39.5 cents at 11:16 am AEST.
