Linius Technologies (LNU) has penned a contract with Cricket Australia to deploy its Archive Search & Edit software to create new content experiences from its archive.

Cricket Australia holds an extensive video archive of both new and historical Australian cricket matches, including footage from the Australian Test, T20, Sheffield Shield and Big Bash competitions for men’s and women’s teams. The recordings date back to 1980, with a total of over 20,000 hours of content.

The company told investors searching through such an extensive archive is normally an overwhelming task, leaving sports clubs grappling with how to unlock the value and monetise their deep video archives.

As such, Linius’ Archive Search & Edit, built on the Linius Video Services (LVS) software as a service (SaaS) platform, will allow Cricket Australia to easily search its archive for relevant content, efficiently edit, then publish.

The agreement has an initial 12-month term, with the opportunity to monetise the service through advertising and sponsorship, with Linius to receive a significant cut of the revenue.

“Only the Linius LVS platform can support the creation of personalised video content from such a huge archive at this scale,” Linius CEO James Brennan said.

“By virtualising their match footage archive through LVS, Cricket Australia will have the freedom and flexibility to publish more new content than ever and to rapidly create new engagement experiences for fans.”

The deal with Cricket Australia marks the fourth major sporting league in Australia to take on Linius’ solutions, joining the A-Leagues, the National Basketball League (NBL) and Racing.com.

Linius Technologies was up 33.3 per cent, trading at 0.4 cents at 11:53 am AEDT.
