Los Cerros’ (LCL) latest step-out drilling has extended the Tesorito South porphyry discovery at its Quinchia Gold Project in Columbia.

The company drilled the Tesorito gold porphyry prospect in 2018, and now the objective of the drill program is to test two anomalous zones, the southern and northern targets.

In July, LCL reported results for holes TS-DH25 and TS-DH26, with both holes intercepting high-grade gold mineralisation at the surface.

Now, assay results from TS-DH27 have been received, indicating broad zones of gold porphyry mineralisation with grades of 36 metres at 1.01 grams of gold per tonne (g/t) from 116 metres downhole.

Additionally, results included 72 metres at 1g/t from 188 metres down hole with six metres at 2.05g/t from 254 metres.

Los Cerros was eager to receive the results which it was expecting to “dramatically change” the Tesorito North area.

The step-out drill hole was designed to test the east-northeast limits of mineralisation previously encountered by holes TS-DH24, ‘25 and ‘26.

The company said the drill hole along with supporting data has provided valuable information for further definition of extensions and distribution of gold mineralisation.

Mineralisation is said to remain open to the north and southeast.

LCL has secured a fourth diamond drill rig to accelerate drilling, which is anticipated to start early September.

Shares were trading grey at 15 cents at 9:59am AEST.
