One of the latest explorers to head to the ASX is Perth-based Orange Minerals with listing anticipated as soon as next week.
Led by managing director David Greenwood, Orange Minerals has raised $7-million to kick start exploration on highly prospective tenements in New South Wales and Western Australia.
The assets are located close to major projects in two major gold regions, the Lachlan Fold Belt in NSW and Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields.
The company, backed by veteran explorer Brian Rodan who chairs the listed Iceni Gold, plans to begin drilling in New South Wales, followed by further follow-up work on its WA project.
“And we are going to hit the ground running,” says Mr Greenwood. We’ve got some drill programs planned in New South Wales in the near term and the ground here in WA, we won’t be drilling immediately, but we’ll certainly be drilling next year.”
A recent visit to the Eastern Goldfields sites produced encouraging comments from senior geologist David Nixon.
“The tenements there are attractive, certainly from our perspective, because we hunt in the granite space and there are some really attractive felsic intrusives there and those felsic intrusives we saw them today carrying sulfides, and sulfides as part of the key recipe, that we know can host gold,” said Mr Nixon.
The veteran explorer, Mr Rodan, is equally enthusiastic.
“Every day is a great day when you’re exploring because you just never know. To find a big gold mine, you’ve got to be in the right areas and you’ve got to be looking in the right spots. So we know where to look and that’s what we’re doing out there.”
Orange Minerals will make its debut on the ASX on Wednesday, December 8.
