1414 Degrees (ASX:14D) has this morning reported a new milestone for its SiNTL silicon anode battery technology, with test cells exceeding 550mAh/g and optimised formulations recording more than 600mAh/g during initial testing.

The company said the results represent a significant improvement over conventional graphite anodes, which typically deliver around 370mAh/g, while also outperforming many existing silicon-enhanced battery technologies.

Testing at George Washington University produced multiple cell variants over 600mAh/g before stabilising above 550mAh/g at higher charge and discharge rates.

1414 is now focusing on carbon-enhanced formulations designed to consistently sustain 600mAh/g across a wider range of operating conditions.

The company said its SiNTL material is designed as a “drop-in” replacement for existing lithium-ion battery manufacturing, meaning battery makers could adopt the technology without major changes to production lines.

Management believes the higher-capacity batteries could unlock opportunities across a range of industries, including electric vehicles, drones, robotics, defence, aerospace, medical devices and industrial equipment, where greater energy density can extend operating time and reduce battery weight.

The company said the latest results further support SiNTL’s commercialisation pathway, with ongoing development aimed at delivering consistent high-capacity performance suitable for large-scale battery manufacturing.

14D has been selling at 8.9cps, and is up +394% over the last year.
