After 11 years in the job, JLL’s Western Australia Managing Director John Williams has chosen to stand down at the end of 2021 to focus entirely on heading the firm’s WA Capital Markets division.

Angelo Amara, JLL’s current WA Head of Commercial Property and Asset Management, will succeed him as WA Managing Director, according to the company.

Speaking on his appointment, Mr Amara said he was excited to lead the business to its next chapter.

“Doing so with the business in such a strong position thanks to John’s leadership over the past decade establishes an optimal platform for future growth,” he said.

“I am excited about John’s full-time role with Capital Markets clients given his unrivalled experience and reputation in our marketplace.”

In addition to his new role as Managing Director, Mr Amara will continue to run WA’s property management business alongside Senior Director Ann Manifis.

He presently manages a team of about 50 property and asset management workers situated in both JLL’s WA headquarters and several locations throughout Perth, including Central Park. His property sector expertise spans 13 years, including five years in key roles at JLL.

JLL Australia CEO Stephen Conry commended Mr Williams and Mr Amara’s appointments.

“Angelo’s experience through leading our management of commercial properties in Perth on behalf of our many valued clients puts him in an ideal position to lead our business,” he said.

“The WA business is fortunate having a very successful, stable and highly regarded leadership team with an average of 15 years’ service to the firm. Angelo Amara as Managing Director will be well supported by the leadership team including John as the new head of our Capital Markets business.”

Outgoing WA Managing Director John Williams said the WA business had experienced significant growth in revenues over the past 10 year, despite various property cycles.

“After 11 years and with the recent move to our new offices it is the right time to hand over and provide the opportunity to someone with the talent of Angelo Amara,” he said.

“I am very much looking forward to focusing on Capital Markets from 2022.”
