Duketon Mining drills significant intersections at Barlee

• Remaining assays returned from Barlee drilling

Duketon Mining (ASX: DKM) has identified significant intersections after receiving all assay results from the recent drilling program at the Barlee gold project in WA.

At the Gromit prospect, RC drill RC drilling intersected 30m at 1.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, including 9.0m at 2.4 g/t from 24m.

This intercept is located approximately 30m east of a previously reported aircore hole which returned 4.0m at 0.53 g/t and 8.0m at 0.27g/t.

At the Odie prospect, located on the northern tenement E77/2717, drilling intersected anomalous gold associated with a banded iron formation (BIF).

MD, Stuart Fogarty, said mineralisation remains open along strike to both the north and south at Odie, with the nearest drill testing located approximately 500m to the north and 300m to the south.

Odie is situated at the intersection of the eastern edge of the Diemals Basin and a NNE-trending structural corridor adjacent to the BIF.

Historic drilling within the prospect has returned encouraging results, including 16m at 0.274 g/t from surface, 4.0m at 0.187 g/t from 20m and 4.0m at 0.1 g/t from 28m.

“These results continue to demonstrate the significant discovery potential at the Barlee gold project. Our first-pass drilling has now delivered encouraging gold intersections at Astro, Gromit and Odie, with each prospect remaining open and requiring further follow-up drilling,” Mr Fogarty said.

“The 30 metres at 1.1 g/t gold returned from Gromit is a particularly encouraging result, considering the higher-grade core of 9.0m at 2.4g/t gold.

“The mineralisation at Astro that was intersected on subsequent lines spaced 400m apart hints at potential scale. At Odie, we’ve confirmed a new gold-bearing BIF target that remains largely untested along strike, providing an excellent opportunity to rapidly expand the footprint of mineralisation.”

Mr Fogarty said the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the company’s exploration approach.

“Importantly, these technical successes have come from areas that have seen little or no previous exploration. Our soil geochemistry program continues to generate high-quality drill targets, and with only approximately 30% of our granted tenure assessed to date, and additional tenure to the south under application, we believe the Barlee gold project has considerable discovery upside potential.”

The company has expanded its landholding in the area with a further 160 ss. km of prospective tenure to the south of E77/3160, extending the strike length of the project to approximately 45km.

This southern area contains several known but poorly defined geochemical anomalies that have received little previous exploration.

DKM was up 19.1% to 12.5¢. Mkt cap $12.81M.
