- Drill results continue to confirm high-grade mineralisation at Sunnyside deposit
- Current drill program targeting known high-grade mineralisation shoots
- Results expected to underpin a resource estimate due next month
- Results guiding expanded drilling program across Mt Wills
Rokeby Resources (ASX: RKB) is set to ramp up drilling at the Mt Wills gold project in north-east Victoria after receiving further positive assay results from its maiden diamond drilling program at the historic asset.
The company has now received photon assay and fire assay results with drilling continuing to confirm high-grade mineralisation at the Sunnyside deposit.
Highlights include 0.3m at 138 grams per tonne (g/t) from 139.2m, 0.35m at 5.86 g/t from 71m and 0.1m at 4.73 g/t gold from 127.65m. Drilling also intercepted historic workings at 72.7m and was abandoned.
“Mt Wills is a rare, develop-ready gold asset that is high-grade, historically significant, and fully permitted for the work now underway,” director, Andrew Haythorpe, said.
“We are working through our maiden drill program on time and to strategy as we continue to focus on building on the current Historical Estimate of 2.4 million tonnes (Mt) at 4.02 g/t gold for 320,000 ounces of gold.
“Importantly, results from both the photon assay and fire assay have continued to confirm the expected orientation of mineralisation.
“The results from hole four is particularly exciting as it defines a strike extent of at least 15m length of a high-grade shoot from the previously reported hole SSDH026 which reported 0.8m at 208.9g/t gold while continuing to maintain spectacular grade. Further drilling on this high-grade shoot will occur during the next drilling phase to further define and extent this mineralisation.”
Mr Haythorpe told shareholders the company’s focus is a structured program to grow and upgrade the historic estimate by leveraging the extensive historical workings and the high-grade shoots they define.
“We’ve committed to an aggressive 12- month work program to systematically build on this foundation subject to funding.”
Results have now been received for the first five holes of the nine-hole drilling program. All holes intersected mineralisation coincident with historical resource modelling.
“What is particularly interesting is hole 26SSDH005 intersected previously undocumented workings at 72.75m. This unfortunately terminated the hole, drill hole 26SSDH005B in an attempt to drill through the workings was deflected and drilled over the top of 26SSDH005, leading hole 26SSDH005B to intersect the target 10m above the anticipated high grade zone, and while returning strong alteration and moderate mineralisation this hole failed to pierce the expected location of the high grade shoot.
“26SSDH004’s intersection of 0.3m @ 138g/t gold from 139.2m only 15m north of SSDH026 0.8m @ 208.9g/t gold from 152.6m is particularly pleasing as it strengthens the historical modelling and adds strike length to the mineralisation.”
The geological team is continuing to compile information for a JORC MRE Update due in early November.
RKB was steady at 0.3¢ with a Mkt cap of $8.930M prior to markets opening.
